Wooden Bowl

We LOVE the stories behind the pieces in our shop. This amazing bowl was made by Michael from Boom Tree’s dad, Mac - the craftsman who taught Michael the craft.

Mac and Michael found an old Blackwood log on the side of the road.

Mac cut the log into slabs, individually cut the segments, which he then glued into rings. Glued the rings together, glued the wedges on the base, and turned it on the lathe.

So how much work went into this one piece? 26 hours!!!….not to mention the years and years of skill and practice.

Pretty sure a bowl I made wouldn’t look like this even if I put 26 hours of work into it 😂

This would make a stunning centrepiece, fruit bowl, dried flowers (or origami flowers 💐)
